missed blogs.....

Haven't been recently posting because for some reason I thought we didnt have to anymore, and then when I found out we did, I kept forgetting...but here's a post to make up for that!! Recently in our last classes together, we were going over the plays and preforming them. I liked how we did this because we were able to get feedback from our fellow classmates, and from the professor. I personally felt awkward about my play because, it's not something i'm used to, I don't write plays, nor did I want to act it out, but that's over and done with! I've started my revisions for my final, but I am a little stuck, and debating on changing which paper to fix.... and I have a lot of studying to do for my other classes. As for my personal life, this past Friday my sorority had it's formal.... and it kind of sucked... people were getting kicked out, right and left, oh! and I went up to the bar to get something to drink and as he was getting my glass for my coke, he shattered the glass and it cut me so bad, that the first 40 minutes I was in the bathroom trying to stop the bleeding. Other than that, the food was delicious, but we ended up getting a taxi and left. I can't wait to go home this weekend and stay home for a month!!!!! It sucks though because I only have a final tomorrow, and Thursday night so I can't leave until Friday. Well i'm gonna go eat meow.

SNOWWW DAAYYY

In class on Monday, I thought it was fun presenting the plays, even though mine sucked. I liked hearing what other people's were about and it let me kinda know what their topic was for their papers. I liked the evaulation sheets because we got a lot of feedback and now i need to know what to work on!! i loved not having class today & spending all day at xi castle, lets hope for another snow day!!!

busy weekend

this weekend i will finally be intimated into my sorority & im so excited! its  been such a busy week, and it'll be such a busy weekend, but its worth it! im so excited & all this preparation (& memorization) willl be paid off! sleepover tonight with all my fellow new members, tomorrow and sunday initiation and after, a retreat & my first formal meeting as a new member! im so excited & happy :)

class 11/10

In class yesterday I liked how we had another student that we did not know peer edit our papers. I liked how it was a student we did not talk to because it helped us get to know someone and maybe not be bias. lol well it doesnt really matter for me because i bearly talk to anyone in that class.. which is weird because im actually really loud and talk to much... well anywho i thought the editing on my paper was good and will help me improve my paper alot. I am also looking forward to getting the edits back from the teacher to help me imporove my work more... well im at study hours so i need to get back to studying (& the faster i get out of here, the faster i can get apple bees later with my big)

happy halloween!!!!

right now i am sitting awkwardly alone in my uncles office at work at UIC… because he is taking me to the train station so i can go down to ISU this weekend for halloween… so there goes a 2.5 hour train ride.. and i lost or forgot my tickets already so had to re print them! i ordered my halloween costumes online and they haven't came in yet.. they're suppose to be at my boyfriends dorm by 5pm so I'm hoping for the best & can't wait to have fun this weekend!!! happy halloween!!

classs 10/27

unfortunately i was not in class yesterday because i literally have been sick for a month and i am not getting better! but i did talk to a student about what our homework was, so i will comment about that! i thought the conspiracy articles were very interesting, but crazy. i think it is also so weird how the "believers" actually make sense and "valid"  examples and points to back up their beliefs and topics they are speaking about. I think it is crazy because, honestly if you keep preaching about your topic, and talking about it, it honestly is true to you. I don't believe them but I do find them interesting and get a little laugh out of some of the theories out there!

blog posts: 21st & 24th

Last week has been a rough week, so here's a LONNNNG post making up for the two I missed. In class on Monday, Oct20th, I liked how we got all our papers back and got to schedule an appointment. I thought the appointment I had really helped me more understand what I needed to improve on for my papers. I got feedback and advice how to make my paper stronger and actually make more sense lol. As for why my past week has been so rough it's because when i went to see the chainsmokers on October 17th, i lost my phone, my ID and my school ID. they haven't found my phone yet, so i am clearly never giving that back. i never really knew how dependent i was on my phone until i didn't have it! i didnt even have a watch so its been pretty rough getting to my class lol & i didnt have an alarm clock..... i am currently now using an old ass phone... lets just say its not even touch screen. this past weekend was very fun, my friends and boyfriend came from Illinois to come visit me! the homecoming weekend was more than i could ask for, it wad amazing! the only problem is that i was sick... i have been sick for about or a little over a month now.. i hope im better for Halloween weekend! i am going down to Illinois state & im pretty excited to see all my friends who go there & to finally see my boyfriends dorm room & meet his roommates (prolly end up cleaning his room also). I guess i just need to take my vitamins & relax!

I'm getting ready right now to go to life in color tonight since i didn't go home to chicago to go see skrillex. chain smokers are playing tonight and I'm so excited! i think tonight will be fun and a little interesting. since i do not have class on fridays, i slept in until like 11 and it was great! i am so excited for tonight!!!! its gonna be so fun :)

monday's class

I liked monday's class because we got to swap papers and get feedback on what other people thought the theme of our movie was. This was interesting to see what their idea of the theme was and how it related to the theme I wrote about. I think it would be cool if we did this with our songs. We would be able to see how other people interpret different things, and it'd be fun to see all the different varieties of music!

sooooooo technically this post isn't late because I went home to Chicago lol.... sooo its only 1140. I came home this weekend to see my friends and my boyfriend! im sad because I am missing my first a xi d date night, but hey its okay! there will always be more. Monday's class...

In class on Monday, I liked how it was a short class! lol I didn't get stuck in the horrible, crazy rain storm. I think the recent assignments we have been doing in class have been very fun and interesting. I like finding the theme of a certain song, story or movie. I feel that it gives that specific movie or song we are listening to a new meaning. The song I picked to write about the theme of was, "Enjoy the Ride" by Krewella. I have always loved Krewella and i'm glad i chose this song to actually really look into!

october 3rd

Once again I forgot to post... October 3rd was national mean girls day!!! It was also my first sorority/fraternity mixer... lets just say it was interesting, and so were the men of sigma chi..I did end up getting a frat pledge pin though so yay me! Now my evil punishment so he can get it back...muhahaha, its just gonna be cookies and flowers! This first weekend with my new sisters was very fun and im glad to be apart of their new sisterhood!! I picked Xi best one!!

Class: Monday, Sept 29

Soooo.. I am actually on top of my game today!!! I did not forget to write my post! Yesterday I very much enjoyed class. I thought it was fun, kind of like going behind the scenes and breaking down a song. I liked this because usually you do not know the meaning behind a song and sometimes you just judge it. The songs we had to listen to and analyze were actually modern songs, so they were not boring. I am excited to keep working on this topic and I hope we do more fun stuff like this in the future. I am just a little nervous to write the paper on a song that I like. I love music, and pretty much any type of music as long as it does not give me a headache! So this is going to be hard to pick a song to analyze. I am probably going to end up picking one that I like but never really thought in depth about. I think it will more interesting to look at one that I do not already know what it means! I am actually weirdly excited to write this paper! I am even more excited that it is not due until Monday ;)

"8/26/14"

Lol... well once again, here I am with a late post... I am constantly forgetting to post these and it's not okay!!! I need to start setting an alarm or a reminder or something.  So yesterday my day was eventful and fun. It was stage two of sorority recruitment, and I got invited back to the parties I wanted to attend. It becomes more and more nerve wrecking each day, and less and less girls get invited back to the parties they want. Tomorrow, Sunday, is finally bid night!! I’m so excited to find out and decide what chapter I will call my new home!!!

"Carrie"

In class on Monday, we watched the movie “Carrie”. I liked that we actually got to sit back and realize and enjoy a movie. I saw the remark of the 1970 one, so I knew how weird it was lol. I thought the monster and the message of the movie was that girls are monsters and mean. I also felt a theme was that others are so quick to judge people’s beliefs. It might be dorky or weird to say it, but I actually enjoyed the worksheet we got. I feel worksheets during movies help me to understand it more. The questions about the lighting and camera angle I thought were pretty easy because in high school I learned about lighting and angles. I can’t wait to discuss this movie in class tomorrow!

Reflection for class

For class on Wednesday we had to read 2 short stories. I really enjoyed the one about Chicago. I enjoyed this one the most because I am from Chicago! (I am currently typing this quickly because I am actually getting ready to make a surprise visit back home). I liked the concept of that short story or poem, I do not recall which one it was. I felt like the concept of it, was to live your life to the fullest and live for the moment. I liked how you made us question and think about the location and how it adds significance to the writing. If you're passionate enough about something then you can make anything seem interesting!

I forgot to post..........

So....as you can see I forgot to post on my blog yesterday! Better late than never right? Well.. anyway this past weekend, Friday the 12^th, my best friends from Chicago came out and visited me! I had 4 friends come out. These girls I met in high school and have been friends ever since freshman year. Ya we had our ups and downs but what friendships don’t? My roommate went back home during that day so I had the room all for my friends and I. my room was packed. Maggie and Ally decided to bring a king air mattress… it was quite interesting trying to fit that in my room. I had a blast with them when they came out for the night. They left Saturday morning. When they left my grandma and uncle made a surprise visit out, and took me shopping! So now I am all stocked up on groceries! Being away actually makes me miss my friends and family back home that I never thought I would miss this much.. I intend to go home the beginning of October to surprise them all and to see my boyfriend. I can’t wait! Xoxo Nikki

Wedensdays class

In class this week I learned that everyone has a different writing style or prefer to write about different things. I found it interesting how we were told not to put our names on the paper and I later found out that it was because we had to guess which paper belonged to who. This was clever and it was also fun because it was fun reading them and trying to see if I could guess. I thought it was an interesting activity, but fit very well because we had to make it a narrative. I am excited and nervous to go to class next week and to find out what the next activity. I need to work on getting back in the flow of writing papers. I think I struggled with the one I wrote for class. I think I just need some time and everything will be good!

Introduction

Hey Everyone! This is my first blog post...(so basically this is going to suck) Anywho... My name is Nicole Conners but I like to go by Nikki. I am currently from Chicago, Illinois and I am freshman at this fine university. My best friends are coming in this weekend from back home and I can hardly contain my excitement! I am studying Fashion Merchandising, and I am living in a sucky valley... with sucky food... My interests include hanging out with my friends, shopping and having fun! Soooo from this I may seem a little basic, but when you get to know me I am far from it. I'm very fun and I just love to have fun! Well this first post sucked, but thanks for reading it anyway.
